My Approach
The Way I See Surfing
Surfing is not just standing on a board. It never was.
For me, surfing is connection. With the ocean, with nature, with yourself and with the people around you. It is friendship, travel, freedom and community all at once. It is one of the few things in this world that brings together people of every background, every age and every culture, under the same sun, chasing the same wave. We are made of water. We are born in it. We spend our whole lives drawn back to it, without always knowing why. I believe that pull is not accidental. The ocean has something to offer us that nothing else can. Fuerteventura is pure magic to me. This island, my Neverland, is where I found my purpose and where I have built my life. Every session I teach here carries that energy.
When I am in the water, I do not think about anything else. Not problems, not schedules, not the noise of everyday life. Just the wave in front of me, my body and the present moment. That is freedom. Real, complete, uncomplicated freedom.
That is what I want to give every person I coach. Not just better technique. Not just more waves caught. But those moments out in the ocean, on a surfboard, with the wind and the salt and the sun, where you feel completely and totally yourself.
That is why I do this. And that is the foundation of everything I teach.
The FFC Method
After 15 years of teaching and coaching surfers of all levels, I developed a personal approach to surf coaching that I call the FFC Method. Three principles that guide every session, every program and every interaction I have with the surfers I work with.
FOUNDATIONS
Everything starts here. Before turns, before speed, before performance, we build the right base. A house without solid foundations will collapse. And so will your surfing. At every level, I make sure the foundations are solid before we move forward. This is not about slowing you down. It is about making sure that every skill you build actually sticks.
FEEDBACK
You cannot improve what you cannot see. That is why honest, specific and actionable feedback is at the heart of everything I do. Through observation in the water, video analysis, coaching calls and written assessments, I give you a clear picture of exactly what is happening in your surfing, what to change and how to change it. No guessing. No generic corrections. Real feedback, built around you.
CARE
You are not a number. You are a person with a story, a body, a set of fears and a set of dreams. I genuinely care about your journey, not just your technique. Every surfer I work with is treated as an individual, with patience, respect and full attention. That care is not an extra. It is the foundation of everything else.
What I Stand For
INCLUSIVITY
Every body is welcome. Every gender, every age, every background, every fitness level, every sexual orientation. My coaching is a space where no one is judged and everyone belongs. I have always believed that surfing is for everyone, and that belief shapes everything I do. You do not need to look a certain way, surf a certain way or come from a certain background. You just need to show up.
EMPATHY
Empathy is my greatest tool as a coach. When I work with someone, I do not just observe them from the outside. I try to feel what they are feeling, to understand what is happening inside their body, to see the wave through their eyes. That ability to truly put myself in someone else’s experience is what allows me to give feedback that actually lands, corrections that make sense and guidance that feels personal rather than generic.
FOUNDATIONS FIRST
I will always prioritise solid foundations over fast results. Progress built on shaky ground does not last. Progress built on solid foundations lasts a lifetime. This is true for beginners learning their first pop-up and for advanced surfers working on their turns. We always go back to the foundations. Always.
MIND AND BODY
Surfing is a physical sport, but it is also a mental one. Fear, confidence, focus and body awareness are as important as technique. That is why my coaching works on both dimensions: the physical preparation through dryland training, mobility and conditioning, and the mental preparation through awareness, patience and trust in the process.
A Safe Space for Everyone
My coaching and my school Nalu Mind Body Surf are registered as Punto Violeta in Spain — an official safe space against sexual harassment and discrimination. Every person who works with me has the right to feel safe, respected and welcome. This is not a statement. It is a commitment. Any form of harassment, discrimination or disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated.
